WASHINGTON BANGLA RADIO
NEW YORK - Prestigious Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) of New York (USA) is organizing exhibition from June 29 to November 27 on “Mother India: The Goddess in Indian Painting”. It will reportedly include rare molded-clay images of the goddess, such as Goddess with attendants dated around first century BCE from Bengal; a bronze of Yashoda nursing the infant Krishna from 12th-century Tamil Nadu; painting of Devi from Bikaner (Rajasthan) showing her assuming the form of Durga displaying the cosmic weapons but standing on lotus flowers, etc. Applauding MET for exhibiting Hinduism focused art, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Connecticut (USA) today, said that art had a long and rich tradition in Hinduism and ancient Sanskrit literature talked about religious paintings of deities on wood or cloth.
