All 7 windows by Louis Comfort Tiffany that are part of the exhibition
OHIO - They are seven angels celebrated in the art glass of Louis Comfort Tiffany: seven eight-foot, lancet stained-glass windows representing seven angels, created at the turn of the 20th century as a commission for the Swedenborgian Church of the New Jerusalem in Avondale. They haven't been seen here in almost 50 years, but they will grace a Taft Museum of Art gallery beginning Saturday. In Company with Angels: Seven Rediscovered Tiffany Windows continues through Sept. 11. Coincidentally, Taft Museum curator Lynne Ambrosini said, another suite of Tiffany stained glass is undergoing restoration at the Cincinnati Art Museum, which recently purchased it from a shuttered church in Avondale. "This is a part of the history of Cincinnati," Ambrosini said. [link]
