PHILIPPINES - Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim opened Thursday Sining Kalilang, an exhibition of Filipino Islamic Arts, as part of the city’s 440th anniversary on June 24. According to Bae Bayolan Marohombsar, Lim’s adviser on Muslim Affairs, the exhibition aims to promote art as a unifying element for Christian and Muslim Filipinos. “Mayor Lim sees art as a unifying element for Christian and Muslim Filipinos. When an art work becomes part of our mental images and of our experiences, then it becomes a unifying element,” Marohombsar said.[link]
