"Surfing Madonna" Artist Comes Forward to Help with Removal

CALIFORNIA - The Surfing Madonna artist came forward Wednesday in light of the possibility that the piece could suffer severe damage should Encinitas try to remove it without his help. His name is Mark Patterson, also a long-time citizen of Encinitas. Mark gave a television interview today to Loren Nancarrow of Fox News San Diego. Mark never expected or intended the response that his work has gotten. Mark said, "This is my gift to the community. It came from inspiration. It has an important message of 'Save the Ocean'." [link]
